Speed Improvements
Another couple of weeks has passed and you probably haven't seen any obvious changes to the site (even if only 1 person were paying attention, Ashley)... However that doesn't mean I haven't been squirelling away in the background. This month I have:
- Created analytical goals
- Sorted out a lot of 301 redirects
- Been adding a steady stream of new manuals
- Using Google Speed Tracer to optimise page caching, image sizes etc
- Started using PHPs 'ob_gzhandler', to compress HTML output
- Creating Google Website Optimiser tests, to improve site conversions...
- Used YSlow to assess and improve my page loading speeds
- Minimised and combined my CSS files, using CSS Minimiser and Alphabetisier
- Created a sitemap generator
- Fixed a bug in the tracking script!
